I am delighted to welcome you to the Department’s website and extend my warmest greetings to all of you. As the Head of the Department, I have a privilege of leading a group of dedicated and passionate physicists who work for uplifting the knowledge and skills of the students in the field of Physics. Our department has a renowned History of excellence in teaching for the past decades. We are committed to maintain this legacy and we strive to be par excellence in our field.
Our department offers a wide range of courses such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Optics, Atomic and Nuclear physics, Electronic Instrumentation, etc. which equip the students with sufficient knowledge so that they could aspire for higher education, and Research.
We have a very good Lab which gives a good hands-on experience to the students and an opportunity to do research mainly in the field of glass science. We have developed this lab with the funding given by DST and FIST along with the support given by the management of our college. Our department has been granted a Research center by the Krishna University and four of our members have been designated as Research guides.
We are proud to say that our department is leading in research in the purview of our university by producing nearly 600 research publications in the reputed peer reviewed journals with high impact factor. In this connection I am very much happy to place it on record that one of our members, namely Dr M. C. Rao is recognized as top ranked researchers in world leading top 2% Scientists category 2023 with 2337 rank by the Scopus (Elsevier) in collaboration with Stanford university, U.S.A. He also received “Best Teacher award” by the Govt of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2014. Similarly, our Research Director Dr N. Veeraigh is also recognized as top ranked researchers in world leading top 2% Scientists category for the year 2023.
We conduct academic competitions, workshops, seminars and guest lectures to the students every year, to promote their interest in higher learning. Another important program we conduct every year is “Land to Lab” program to the children of the surrounding schools by which they get some idea of how some theoretical aspects could be understood by doing the experiments in the Lab. It is also to be noted that most of our staff members hold the key administrative positions in the college, thus contributing to the holistic development of our institution.
