Students urged to focus on employability skills
Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada, hosted a dynamic workshop on Career Guidance and Life Skills today at Seminar Hall -1S7, emphasizing the importance of employability skills for students entering the competitive job market.
Renowned motivational speakers, Sri Pagolu Raju and Sri V. Kesavarao, delivered thought-provoking and vibrant talks, shedding light on the various aspects of Employment, Engagement, and Empowerment. The seminar provided valuable insights into job opportunities in government, IT, finance, and manufacturing sectors.
Addressing the students, Mr. Pagolu Raju stressed the significance of being 'Job-Ready' as they step into the professional world. He highlighted the need for students to navigate through different professional dynamics, including interactions with clients, hierarchy of authorities, colleagues, and customers.
Mr. Raju introduced a unique perspective by categorizing personalities into four types – Lion, Monkey, Owl, and Horse. He explained how understanding and adapting to these personality types can enhance effective communication and collaboration in the workplace.
Lion Type personalities: Decisive and focused, students were advised to communicate with them directly and concisely. Monkey Type personalities: Creative and innovative, students were encouraged to engage with them in an imaginative and relaxed manner. Owl Type personalities: Analytical and detailed, students were advised to provide comprehensive information with evidential documentation. Horse Type personalities: Loyal and supportive, students were encouraged to maintain a friendly approach and share thoughts openly.
Sri V. Kesavarao, covered essential topics such as communication skills, interpersonal relations, and job-specific skills. Various interactive activities, mind games, and short videos were incorporated to make the learning experience engaging and practical.
The event was organized in collaboration with Vidyarthi Vikasa Vahini, Vijayawada, and received active participation from the Head of Electronics Department, Dr. Balaji Bhanu, Placement Officer, Dr. G Sahaya Baskaran, as well as faculty and students from the Electronics and Commerce departments.
Dr Balaji expressed gratitude for the success of the seminar and highlighted its importance in preparing students for the challenges of the professional world.
